Do you guys do repairs?

At this point, we do not perform repairs on third-party leather items. We do, however, repair Lynx Custom Leather items you may have damaged.

What kind of hardware do you use?

At Lynx Custom Leathers we use and design for bronze hardware. Bronze Chicago screws offer durability and versatility as they can be easily changed. Bronze buckles, O rings, and D rings tie it all together. We can substitute for different hardware finishes, subject to availability.

When do I pay for my custom product?

After your initial consultation, if you choose to go forward with the project, a 50% deposit is due. Upon finishing your item, which may require 2 or more fittings, payment of the balance is due upon picking up your item. It is highly encouraged that you try on the finished item at the time of pick up.

I have a sketch I drew of the type of harness I want. Can you make it?

Chances are we can. You can schedule a consultation in which you will have 30 min in which we can discuss the build, the process, the hardware, viability, and a quote.

Twink? Fit? Bear? What do these sizes mean?

It is a mix of body type and strap width. The body type will determine the length of the straps and the buckling strap to fit a range within the type. It is large, medium, and small. Twink sizes are the thinnest straps we provide, Fit are mid-size widths and bear is the largest width. These widths are chosen as to what looks good with what body type and may change due to the design of the harness but they will always follow the pattern of these sizes.

I have a pair of leather pants I need hemmed, do you do that type of work?

We take on that type of work depending on the current capacity and workload. Don't hesitate to get in touch with us to check availability.

What is “pristine” and “antiqued”?

When finishing leather, you have two options, pristine or antiqued. A pristine finish involves using only beeswax and leather balm, giving the leather a brand-new look that will require time to break in and develop that classic leather appearance. On the other hand, an antiqued finish involves adding a darkening agent that seeps into the cracks, creases, carvings, and lines of the leather. This gives the leather a weathered, aged appearance and emphasizes the tooling, giving the piece character that would otherwise take years to develop naturally.

Why such a long lead time?

Lynx Custom Leathers is a local, residential leatherworker. All items are made by hand upon being ordered unless it is a “Floor Model” being sold. All of the tooling is done by hand, for example, the fish scale tooling involves each scale being cut in by hand.
